After a long life filled with walks and plenty of fetch, 13-year-old Daisy was put down on Tuesday, but not before she had a final day filled with pampering and all the human food a dog could eat.

Victor Flores, 22, from El Paso, Texas tweeted photos of a text exchange between his mom Shannon Adams and their family which documented Daisy's last day.

"My mom wanted to make her last day special so we fed her her favorite foods and made sure she was as comfortable as possible," Flores told Mashablein an email.

Daisy started with a little bacon for lunch.

Although Daisy could no longer walk on her own due to a ruptured disc, she and Adams went on a very special walk with the help of a wagon.

Then it was finally time for dinner.

Not only did Daisy get chicken, but she got some steak and veggies too.

Flores explains that Daisy had been in their family since she was just 8 weeks old.

"We had to put her down because she was too old for surgery and because she was suffering," said Flores.

The original tweet had racked up over 95,000 retweets at the time of writing, prompting some very emotional responses.

Flores has been floored by the response.

"I didn't think the tweet would go viral," told Mashable. "Everybody is sending their condolences so we appreciate that. Some people are even saying what we did for Daisy reminds them of what they did for their dogs in their final days. That's pretty neat."
